The big C VARSITY letter

is a cherished symbol of athletic accomplishment.

The essence is embedded in generations of men and women striving for excellence.

This symbol embodies a shared experience at the highest level of university sport.

Names of those who have earned the right to wear the Big C are written in the long history of the University of California.

Recipients have been tested through the rigors of training and competition.

They have sharpened their minds and enabled their bodies for a lifetime of personal and professional success.

Zebra sweaters are perhaps the most defining piece of gear for Cal student-athletes. The number of stripes on the arm of the sweater (and in some cases the thickness of the stripes) define the team to which its owner belongs.

  • Coaches, please email your list of 1st-year varsity award recipients —AND— Your team picture to both:

    • awards@bigcsociety.org 

    • clifm@usamktg.com

  • 1st-year award plaques are manufacturer by USA MArketing, and delivered to the haas pavilion equipment room.

  • lead-time for manufacturing is 3-4 weeks

ISSUING VARSITY AWARDS

  • Student-athletes MUST order awards through the Haas Pavilion Equipment Room. 

  • Student-athletes should be FITTED FOR AWARDS at the Haas Pavilion Equipment Room, PRIOR TO ordering.

  • PLEASE SCHEDULE YOUR FITTING BY EMAILING LEWONG@BERKELEY.EDU.

  • OTHER RULES:

    • Student-athletes must meet eligibility rules prior to issuance of varsity awards.

    • All awards must be ordered within one year from the time at which they are earned.

    • Bulk orders are placed twice-per-year, in the fall and spring. 

    • It is the student-athlete's responsibility to order and pick-up each award.

    • Orders placed after the one year period will be assessed a fee. 

    • All orders placed after graduation will be assessed a fee.
