Derek Zahler (Football, '02) bounced around California and Colorado for a little while after graduation. Big things happened in Boulder . . . (1) he met a young lady by the name of Lentine Kennel, who would become his future wife, and (2) he enlisted in the US Army. Derek and Lentine were married in South Carolina in the summer of 2005, where, coincidentally, Derek graduated from the Special Forces Selection course, earning himself a Green Beret in the process. For the past three years he has been serving throughout South East Asia. Home for Derek and Lentine - and their dog, Gunner -is, as they lovingly describe it, a little house in the middle of a sugar cane field in Okinawa, Japan . . . where it's distinguished by a Cal flag flying proudly from the front porch!

In Memoriam: It is with sadness that The Big C Society has recently learned of the passing of Cal Athletic Hall of Fame member Loren Hawley, Rugby and Football '64.
